Benson Brewery on Monday, Upstream on Tuesday, Farnam House yesterday and Nebraska Brewing Company tonight. I've got a reputation to maintain after all. =)
These folks in Omaha really know their beer.

Yup Midwest beer is getting interesting. Gonna try get get some KC oppo folks together and hit some breweries. I just saw Nebraska Brewery on Beer Street Journal. How was it?

Nebraska Brewing was quite tasty. I was impressed by their seasonal porter (Mr. Roboto) and their Belgian Tripel / IPA (formerly Hop God, now Hop Anomaly). I have been in Omaha on business since Monday and fly out tomorrow. Made the most of it. If you ever make it to Omaha hit up Farnam House (and Beertopia - a bottle shop which is next door), they are amazing (favorite of the four).

What is the Blithering Idiot compared to the Heresy?

I've never had either. Heresy is a Barrel Aged Imperial Stout and Blithering Idiot is a Barleywine. Weyerbacher does great things, so finding those two was exciting for me.

Yeah, the smaller bottles will be easy, the two large ones from Boulevard will be the challenge. Crafting some cardboard holders for the suitcase for those. Knock on wood, I've had success in the past with beers in the suitcase while flying (quite a few times now).

I like stouts. I don't think I have ever had barleywine.

You have access to some great ones where you are. But they are a bit of an acquired taste. And they typically do well with some aging (1, 2, 6 years) to smooth out some of the initial sharp flavors into a smooth balanced brew. Often when fresh the hops are still kind of sharp and present and some of the malts aren't quite fully part of the flavor. There are exceptions though.
Like anything, this can be a pricy hobby if you let it. That collection of 9 bottles was $75.

That sounds about right actually. Though I am used to California prices.

Well, to be fair, between the two North Coast bottles (500ml each) I spent $33 (one was $20 and one was $13), and then the other bombers were $8 to $13... The Weyerbacher ones were cheap, only a few dollars a bottle.

My tattoo artist is in downtown Omaha. This gives me a reason to get another tat and hit some more breweries. Farnam House huh?

Small place, good food, better beer. If you like things a bit outside of the normal microbrew, they are hard to beat. I try to find and try new beers which aren't normally distributed to where I live (AZ). They have a great sour brown, and their belgian IPA (their only regular IPA) is really snappy and smooth. They regularly do sours and bretts.

I like beer. I mainly drink Trippels because I like alcohol and acting like a Belgian. I also like White and Red Ales. What kinds do you prefer?

I like nearly everything. I'm not a big fan of standard pilsners and lagers, but there are a lot of great examples of those. I like Stouts, porters, IPA's, Pale Ales, tripels, quads, barleywines, old ales, sours, bretts, Kriek's, geuze... basically, I like beer. A LOT. =)
A friend of mine tells me that Monk's in Philly is the place for beer. Next time you are around there: http://www.monkscafe.com/on_tap.cfm

I've heard that for so long. I have to go. They have some great stuff on tap—i like Allagash white and anything by Bell's (well mostly Bell's Two hearted). This is also appealing:
Dupont Avec les bons Voeux
I live in a little suburb that has a really beautiful beer store. (we have beer stores bc you can't buy beer in liquor stores or any other place unless it serves food—which is a batshit law). They have some great stuff.

If you like your beers a bit European and you enjoy sour (but not too sour), try it. Smuttynose does great stuff, and I love the style...

I think I've had some Smuttynose. I got to take a look. Maybe I should buy some for the weekend. I can mix and match six packs, which is good for me.

I drink a LOT of different beers... and track them. Something along the lines of... well, a lot (more than 200 unique beers per year for the last 5 years, more than 300 for most of them).

nah, flights of beers and some moderation are your friend when you have to work. Plus, eating and hydration are always part of the game plan. (What do all of these breweries have in common? They all serve food).
